What does this season hold for the Boston Celtics? Can head coach Glenn "Doc" Rivers lead the Celtics team to the playoffs? The Celtics have many talented players that will help Rivers lead this Celtics team to the playoffs. Ryan Gomes and Al Jefferson were at the Sports Authority Training Center at HealthPoint almost all summer long working out on their own and spending time hitting the bikes hard and shooting around! Kendrick Perkins and Delonte West were working out pretty regularly as well.

Gerald Green, Dwayne Jones, Tony Allen, Kevin Pittsnogle, Allan Ray, and Theo Ratliff joined the others in play. Green had impressive put back dunks on rebounds and Allen looked good cutting the hoop during their workouts.

Jefferson is still struggling with rehab on his ankle, but is spending plenty of time on the exercise bike until he can take the court. He has to work on his defensive awareness and hopes that his ankle situation will be behind him in November and he and the team can move on from the media questions.

Paul Pierce underwent minor arthroscopic surgery on his left elbow this off-season. He is coming off of a banner year averaging a career high 26.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.4 steals in 39.0 minutes per game. He finished last year with his fourth career 2,000 point season matching him with Larry Bird for the most in franchise history. He finished sixth in the NBA in points per game and topped his franchise records for free throws made and attempted in a season.

Boston has returning veterans with captain Paul Pierce, Wally Szczerbiak, Brian Scalabrine, Kendrick Perkins, Delonte West, Al Jefferson, Tony Allen, Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green and Dwayne Jones. They are joined by Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff, Rajon Rondo, Allan Ray, Leon Powe, and Kevin Pittsnogle. Veteran forward Brian Grant was acquired on Draft Night from the Phoenix Suns to join the Celtics team. The 2006-07 Celtics are young, but with only Pierce Szczerbiak and Ratliff being able to say they have played in the NBA more than seven years.
