The new state-of-the-art Busch Stadium was designed to bring baseball’s best ballpark to baseball’s best fans and it has! New Busch Stadium opened on April 10, 2006 with the Cardinals defeating the Milwaukee Brewers. The ceremonial first pitches were with Chris Carpenter and Albert Pujols to Bob Gibson and Willie McGee and the first pitch was from Mark Mulder to Brady Clark. David Eckstein had the first Cardinals hit in the second inning and Albert Pujols had the first Cardinals homerun in the third inning in the new and improved stadium.
