As the home of the Los Angeles Kings hockey team and the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers and Sparks basketball teams, this $300 million state-of-the-art arena also hosts some of the world's largest entertainment and political events, including the Grammy Awards and the high profile Democratic National Convention.

The $375 million Staples Center in Los Angeles was constructed in a record 18 months. Fan intimacy and a sweeping theatre-sized screen are two of the main features of the design for the Arena. Back in December 1997 the City of Los Angeles' Cultural Affairs Commission approved the design for the new, state-of-the-art sports and entertainment facility.

The 900,000 sq.ft sports and entertainment facility seats 20,000 basketball fans and 18,500 for hockey. The intention of the design was to enable it to host more than 230 sports, entertainment and family-oriented events annually. It consists of 160 suites, 32 party suites and 2,500 club seats over five concourses and 22 concession stands.

The Staples Center is the first arena in the world designed to accommodate three professional teams, the NBA Lakers and Clippers and the NHL Kings. To add to the diverse program, special floor area configurations allow an unprecedented turnover rate of entertainment events.

Concessions
Concession stands are plentiful. The usual hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, and ice cream are available. Some of the vendors at the Staples Center include Camachos, McDonald's, Panda Express, Pizza Hut, Wetzel's Pretzels, 11th St. Deli, and City View Grill.

Parking
There is tons of parking around Staples Center . The convention center is right next door, so if there is a convention you want to see you can go there as well. Then just walk right over to Staples Center.

101 Fwy southbound from San Fernando/Santa Clarita Valleys to 110 Fwy southbound (Harbor Fwy/San Pedro) from Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena:
Exit Olympic Blvd. and turn left at end of ramp
At 11th St. turn left
Follow signs to STAPLES Center.

10 Fwy westbound from San Bernardino, Riverside, Pomona, Ontario, etc. to 110 Fwy northbound exit:
Take the Pico Blvd. off ramp
Continue north past Pico Blvd. (on Cherry St.) to 11th St.
Turn right on 11th St
Follow signs to STAPLES Center.

405 Fwy southbound from Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, etc. to 10 Fwy eastbound from Westside:
Exit Hoover St. turn left and continue to Alvarado St
Turn right to Olympic Blvd
At Olympic Blvd. turn right and continue past 110 Fwy (Harbor Fwy) to Figueroa St.
Turn right on Figueroa St
Follow signs to STAPLES Center.

405 Fwy northbound from San Diego, Orange County, Anaheim, etc. to 110 Fwy northbound (Harbor Fwy/Los Angeles):
Exit 110 Fwy north at Adams Blvd
Turn left to Figueroa St
Follow signs to STAPLES Center.
