McAfee Coliseum is a stadium located in Oakland, California that is home to the Oakland Athletics and Oakland Raiders. History has been made in this stadium time and time again over the years. Ricky Henderson broke the stolen base record in 1991 that had been held by Lou Brock. Jim “Catfish” Hunter pitched his first perfect game here and this stadium was home to teammates Reggie Jackson and Rollie Fingers in the early 1970’s.
If you switch to football you’ll note that the endzone seating is clearly the “Black Hole” because of the rowdy and very excitable fans that sit here game in and game out! The Oakland Raiders have a great following and keep McAfee Coliseum full of life with interesting and devoted fans.
The Oakland Athletics have made an announcement that plans are in the works for a new ballpark. An agreement to purchase a 143 acre parcel from Cisco Systems with the intent of building a baseball park in the city of Fremont has been reached. The baseball-only stadium will be named Cisco Field as part of a 30 year naming rights amendment. A groundbreaking date hasn’t been set, but once it is set it should take two to three years for completion of the new ballpark.
The stadium is five minutes from downtown Oakland and the Oakland International Airport. It is connected to B.A.R.T. which is local Bay Area Rapid Transit station and I-880 runs north and south on the west side of the Coliseum so you have great access to all bay area transit routes. You can also take a cab, car or B.A.R.T. to San Francisco. When it comes to parking there is plenty available for every home game.Upcoming Events

Weather
The Bay Area rarely gets too cold or too hot or too windy, and Oakland is a few degrees warmer than San Francisco, but you should dress for the summer like the locals do-in layers. The fog sometimes moves in at night, making air heavy and home runs harder to hit. Rainouts are rare, and conditions are mostly ideal.
Concessions
The Coliseum offers a wide variety of food, from basic hot dogs, all sorts of barbecued meats, pastas, soft-serve ice cream, Chinese food, Roundtable pizza, and Subway sandwiches.
Parking
Plenty of parking is available for every home game and often fans gather hours before for tailgate parties.
