Angel Stadium of Anaheim is a baseball stadium located in Anaheim, California and is home to the Los Angeles Angels. The stadium opened April 9, 1966 as the California Angels hosted the San Francisco Giants in an exhibition game. Their first American League game was on April 19, 1966 against the Chicago White Sox.
The original stadium seated 43,204 and underwent construction in 1979-80 for additional seating to house the Los Angeles Rams of the NFL. The renovations were completed in 1981 with the stadium seating 65,158. The Rams left Anaheim for St. Louis, MO in 1995. The new Angel Stadium of Anaheim has seating for approximately 45,050 for the Los Angeles Angels.
The stadium has terraced bullpens in the outfield, widened concourses, new restroom and concession areas, a spacious and modernized press box and broadcast booths, family oriented seating sections, state of the art club level and dugout level suites, the Pepsi Perfect Game Pavilion, and landscaped courtyards with statues in remembrance of Gene Autry and Michelle Carew.
It also has three restaurants, The KnotHole Club, The Diamond Club, and the Homeplate Club. There have been some famous individual baseball milestones obtained here at Angel Stadium like Mickey Mantle’s last game winning run; Nolan Ryan’s striking out of nine straight Boston Red Sox, Reggie Jackson’s 500th career home run and Rod Carew’s 3,000th career base hit!
