Razorback fans, get ready for the start of the Bobby Petrino era. The ex Atlanta Falcons coach makes his return to college football in 2008 and if he has the same type of success as he did at Louisville, the Razorbacks will be on top of the SEC West in no time. While the losses of Felix Jones and Darren McFadden will be felt, Petrino is an offensive genius and should have the Razorbacks scoring lots of points before long. Leading the way for the Petrino attack is quarterback Casey Dick, a talented player that wasn't asked to do a lot in 2007 because of the Arkansas running attack. Expect Dick to throw the ball a lot more this season and with his solid offensive line, he should have time to find his teammates downfield.
Games of note: Arkansas at Texas on 9/13, Arkansas versus Alabama on 9/20, Arkansas versus Florida on 10/4 and Arkansas versus LSU on 11/29. The hiring of Coach Petrino raised the excitement level surrounding the Razorback football team a great deal and if he produces as expected, this will only increase. The University of Arkansas has one of the finest football stadiums in the nation. The seating capacity has been increased from 51,000 to 72,000 in past renovations as well as the new façade covering, and the enclosure of the south end zone which features chair back seating and an addition of 7,300 more seats with space for an upper deck that would push the seating to 80,000. Luxury suites were added as well as an expanded press box as well as many other amenities.
The War Memorial Stadium will continue to host Arkansas football for at least another 13 years. This includes the facility hosting three UA games in three seasons, and three UA games this year and in nine other seasons during that span.
